Please pardon my simple terms.  We have a three month old female show/market pig.  Last week she developed a bump under her belly between her nipples.  From her profile she looked like a boy pig, to describe the area and look of the of the bump better.  The bump was elongated and a little firm to the touch and under the skin.  Again she looked like a boy.  Well, a few days later whatever was inside was now outside.  It looks like it ruptured or opened up and burst through.   She still eats well and is gaining good weight, she is approx 130 lbs right now.  It hasnt slowed her down at all, she is as active as ever and is obviously not in any pain.  She lets me gently try to clean the area with Epsom salt water and I try to finish with iodine.  But I have no idea what else I can do for her.  There are no vets experienced with pigs in my area to call.  One man came out to look at it and was baffled.  Have any of you ever had any experience with this?  Do you know any treatment or have any ideas what to do with it?  Do we let it dry up?  Do we keep cleaning it the way we have?  Should we give any antibiotic treatment?  Ointment or injection? Will it get infected? Get worse?  I have two different pictures of it uploaded, if you could please look at it and give me your opinion.  I would sure appreciate it! Thank you!

Before I saw the pictures, I would say that it was an umbilica hernia. Normally when they burst, they can die.  It is their intestines.  Now, I can't really tell by the only picture I see, is it where their belly button would be?

If so, I would have her slaughtered, and cut your loses. Sorry.

Maybe someone else will have better advise.

I agree it looks as a hernia that has ruptured.  Even if you could get her to a vet, they would need to do surgery and in our experience the pig will rupture agian.  As long as there is no infection you can keep medicating the way you are.  If she has infection you can give antibiotics, to help her.  But otherwise there is really nothing that can be done.
